---FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE---
STUART APPLEBY, JERRY KELLY, SEAN O’HAIR AND VIJAY SINGH PARTICIPATE IN CADDY FOR A CURE AT THE BARCLAYS
(August 3, 2007 - Coral Springs, FL) – Caddy for a Cure, Inc., the opportunity of a golfing lifetime to go inside the ropes with some of the world’s best players on the best courses in the world, travels to The Barclays at the historic Westchester Country Club in Harrison, New York, on August 21, 2007. An online charitable auction for official practice round caddy opportunities with Stuart Appleby, Jerry Kelly, Sean O’Hair and Vijay Singh begins August 7th and will close August 17th.
This legendary golf tournament not only has a new name, The Barclays, but also is the first tournament of the new four-event PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Because of its new status on the TOUR, players must qualify to receive a tournament invitation, making The Barclays an elite field and an exciting experience for golf fans.
The Caddy for a Cure program works through online auctions on “eBay.” The public bids for an opportunity to caddie during the official practice round of a PGA TOUR tournament and the privilege of being side-by-side, inside the ropes on the range, putting greens and golf course with the world’s best TOUR players. Caddies watch their player’s practice routines and shot-making skills, first-hand, without needing to share their player’s time with other amateurs or worrying about their own golf performance. The amount of one-on-one time with the players is unparalleled and an ultimate sports experience.
Caddy for a Cure donates 100% of auction proceeds to various designated charities, including the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, which is the impetus behind the program and The Barclays charities, which include: The Maria Fareri Children's Hospital of Westchester Medical Center, St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester, the First Tee of Metropolitan New York, the Junior Leagues of Westchester, the Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund and the Twig of Westchester County New York, Inc.
“We look forward to returning to this competitive event at the challenging Westchester Country Club, particularly with its new importance to the TOUR players” says Russ Holden, Caddy for a Cure founder and veteran TOUR caddie. He continues, “This tournament is well-known for its roots in tradition, excellence and world-class competition, as well as, for its financial contributions to charity. It’s another perfect fit with the goals of the Caddy for a Cure program and the participating TOUR players.””
