K.J. Choi, Jim Furyk, Padraig Harrington, Davis Love III and Justin Rose Participate in Caddy for a Cure at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational

(July 11, 2007 - Coral Springs, FL) – Caddy for a Cure, Inc., the opportunity of a golfing lifetime to go inside the ropes with some of the world’s best players on the best courses in the world, travels to the World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational at the historic Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, on July 31, 2007. An online charitable auction for official practice round caddy opportunities with AT&T National and 2007 Memorial winner K.J. Choi, world-ranked #2 Jim Furyk, Padraig Harrington, Davis Love III and Justin Rose closes July 20th.
The WGC-Bridgestone is one of four World Golf Championships tournaments sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours. The Federation created the World Golf Championships to enhance the competitive structure of professional golf worldwide, while preserving the traditions and strengths of the member Tours.
The Caddy for a Cure program works through online auction on “ebay.” The public bids for an opportunity to caddie during the official practice round of a PGA Tour tournament and the privilege of being side-by-side, inside the ropes on the range, putting greens and golf course with the world’s best Tour players. Caddies watch their player’s practice routines and shot-making skills, first-hand, without needing to share their player’s time with other amateurs or worrying about their own golf performance. The amount of one-on-one time with the players is unparalleled and an ultimate sports experience.
Caddy for a Cure donates 100% of auction proceeds to various designated charities, including The First Tee, which promotes affordable and accessible golf for children and is World Golf Championship’s primary tournament beneficiary; and the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, which is the impetus behind the Caddy for a Cure program.
“We look forward to returning to this competitive event at the challenging Firestone Country Club,” says Russ Holden, Caddy for a Cure founder and veteran Tour caddie. He continues, “The concept of a tournament that allows the best golfers from seven professional tours to compete against one another is brilliant. Any one of the 120 PGA Tour players who have earned the status to play in this prestigious event are truly the best golfers in the world, and to have five of them available to the golfing public through our Caddy for a Cure program is remarkable.”
The Caddy for a Cure program stop at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone will include a special thank you from the Fanconi Anemia spokesperson, 14-year old Christian Collins of Macon, Georgia. Collins, diagnosed at birth with Fanconi Anemia, a genetic disease and inherited anemia that leads to bone marrow failure, will be on-site to thank participants for their contributions.
The online caddy auction for the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational runs through Friday, July 20th.
